At Simply Amish furniture the term Amish isn’t a style. It’s the standard of excellence by which all their solid wood Amish furniture is handcrafted — this standard is desired by many and practiced by a very rare few. The quality of our solid wood Amish furniture is in the fine details of solid wood furniture, that is hand-finished, inside and out, and it’s created by the skill of genuine Amish craftsmen, which has been passed down from one generation to the next.

But most of all, the quality of Simply Amish furniture is in the beauty of America’s richest hardwoods, hand-crafted and hand-finished in the heartland of America in a wide variety of styles — from country cabinets that are the hallmark of Americana to contemporary designs.

All John Thomas products are made of solid wood…Parawood to be exact. For many years the Para tree has been a plantation grown tree

for the primary use of extracting latex. Once the tree reaches a mature age, it is tapped for the latex much like Maple trees are for maple syrup. Parawood is now valued as an “environmentally friendly” wood, as it makes use of plantation trees that have already outlived their primary function. Parawood is often compared to Maple, and is slightly less in density and hardness than Oak.

John Thomas’ finishing process has been the highlight and focus from day one. An affordable, solid wood, quality built product with a hi-end finish that ensures a beautiful look for years to come. John Thomas proudly uses catalyzed sealers and catalyzed lacquers for maximum durability on many of their products (not just table top surfaces). Catalyzed topcoats are resistant to most household chemicals and are less likely to scratch or mar. JT’s sealing process with multiple coats of sealer and lacquer has proven to stand up to today’s, and tomorrow’s, heavy use.
